Niamh Regan is embarking on a tour across Ireland this February.

Niamh's acclaimed debut album Hemet received nominations for both the RTE Folk Awards' and the RTÉ Choice Awards’ Album of the Year - the acclaimed singer-songwriter spent much of 2023 in the studio working on her next record.

We asked Niamh for her choice cultural picks...

FILM

The last film I saw in the cinema was Killers of the Flower Moon. It was long but I enjoyed every bit of and even more so knowing it was based on a true story. Really liked how they ended the film.

MUSIC

These days I'm loving the album Cruel Country by Wilco, plus Hana Stretton, Joanna Sternberg, Lael Neale, Feeble little horse and David Kitts latest album Idiot Check.

BOOK

American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins. I could not put this book down. It's incredible and had me in floods of tears at the end.

PLAY

The Humans by Stephen Karam is an incredible play that really works well as both theatre and film. I found myself in each character, for better or worse.

TV

I've been watching a bit more YouTube lately and I've been loving the Business Insiders episodes called 'So Expensive' and then I guess TV wise, Golden Girls.

GIG

CMATs UK tour was incredible. Songs, vocal, band, choreography, lights, stage and general entertainment was off the charts. Saw it multiple times, as I was doing support. Left in awe each time.

ART

I've been following a load of different artists and galleries recently on Instagram a few I'd like to mention are Kyle Dunn, Eniola Babarinde, Nina Rumińska and Sarah Doyle. I think they are all very special artists.

RADIO

Always love a good Late Date driving home after a gig on RTÉ Radio 1, and I've really enjoyed Cillian Murphy's Limited Edition on BBC Radio 6 Music.

TECH

Hmmm, I'm not majorly techy but I really love my Juliana Deluxe Chorus/Vibrato guitar pedal!

THE NEXT BIG THING?

Oh, I have no idea - I'm rooting for everyone who is releasing new projects this year though :)
