Artist John Kindness has previously explored the connection between what humans throw away and the tales of Greek mythology.
Now he has drawn on James Joyce's version of the Odyssey - which is Ulysses, of course - as the inspiration for a series of arresting works, currently on display at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin. He talks to RTÉ Arena above.
Tune in @RTERadio1 to hear John Kindness discussing his exhibition, The Odyssey. Showing at @RHAGallery until 18 Feb.

Drawing from the detailed nature of the writing to inform the format of his visual representation, it is no coincidence that this body of work began its making in the years running up to 2022, the centennial of the publishing of Ulysses. Like Joyce, the works depict the timeless epic poem in decidedly modern forms.
The Odyssey is at the RHA Dublin untl February 18th 2024 - find out more here, and listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
