Priscilla and me - Sofia Coppola talks to RTÉ Arena

The theme of the Gilded Cage is one that continues to intrigue the filmmaker Sofia Coppola; whether that cage is an elegant hotel in Tokyo, the palace of Versailles or, indeed, Graceland.

Coppola based her latest film Priscilla, on Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir Elvis and Me; in it, she tells the story of the girl who was courted by Elvis Presley when she was just 14, and ultimately, went to live with him in Memphis Tennessee, later becoming his wife.

Though Elvis was one of the biggest pop stars in the world at the time, the film is focused squarely on Priscilla, and her strange and isolated life with him. Sean Rocks spoke to Sofia Coppola recently for RTÉ Arena - listen above.

Priscilla is in cinemas now. Listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
