EVENT: NATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL OF IRELAND

Described as 'the western lighthouse for contemporary circus culture in Europe', an essential cornerstone in Ireland's rapidly developing circus & street arts sector, this three-day celebration brings the cream of Irish and international practioneers to Kerry for a weekend of performances, workshops and shenanigans! (Various venues, Tralee, 2nd - 5th Nov)

DANCE: BALLET IRELAND ON TOUR

Carmen follows the story of the young naïve soldier José who is bewitched by the beautiful and fiery Carmen. Obsessed and reckless, José turns his back on respectable life to be with her. However, Carmen is a woman who cannot be tamed and José's desire to possess her eventually destroys them both... Spanish dancer Ceilia Sandoya plays Carmen, leading a cast of 12 dancers in Ballet Ireland's production, which tours nationwide through November and December (Theatre at The Mill, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim, Nov 9th, then dates nationwide)

FILM: CORK FILM FESTIVAL

The 68th (!) edition of Ireland's longest running film festival takes place offers a veritable feast of celluloid delights, from the Irish premieres of All Of Us Strangers starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal, Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things with Emma Stone and Paul Duane's folk horror All You Need Is Death to the world premieres of two major new Irish documentaries, So This Is Christmas from award-winning filmmaker Ken Wardrop, and Cork-set boxing doc One Night In Millstreet. Add to that multiple themed strands, shorts programmes, special events, and visiting filmmakers a go-go (Various venues across Cork city and county, Thursday 9th to Sunday 26th November)

This entertaining new documentary offers an intimate look at the Oscar-nominated actor-writer-director-producer, and his real-life inspirational underdog-story (Out now, Netflix)
