THEATRE: LOST LEAR
Using puppetry, projection and live video effects, theatremaker Dan Colley's darkly comic riff on Shakespeare's play is a moving tale with a stunning central performance from Venetia Bowe (Riverbank Theatre, Newbridge, from October 19th-21st, then touring nationwide)
MUSIC: ART IS LONG, LIFE IS SHORT
The music of the late, great Ryuichi Sakamoto is celebrated in this solo performance from pianist Ruth McGinley, drawing from a half century of works from the Sakamoto back catalogue, from his early work with Yellow Magic Orchestra to his celebrated film scores (National Concert Hall, Dublin, Wednesday 18th October)
