Poet Vona Groarke's latest work Woman of Winter is a new version of the 'Lament of the Hag of Beara' from the 9th century Irish. She talks to RTÉ Arena above.
Groarke recognises the original as ‘deeply engaged with how the world is to be experienced through the body and, specifically, through the body of a woman whose social standing has been compromised as she has aged’.
Woman of Winter is a new poem in contemporary English that draws upon the heritage of the original.
