Irish music legend Finbar Furey is celebrating his 77th birthday with a brand new album - watch the video for the first single above.
His take on the traditional standard Kitty features on Moments In Time, which pairs Finbar's new compositions with a quartet of trad classics, delivered in the former Furey Brothers' frontman's inimitable fashion.
"Shane MacGowan asked me specially to sing Kitty for his 60th birthday," says Finbar. "It was one of his mother's favourite traditional Irish songs. It's a beautiful song which I love singing, and when I added it to my concert setlist it always got an amazing reaction from the audience".
While officially retired from live performance after more than a half-century on the road, Furey continues to write and record new music, remaining an inspiration for a new generation of folk talent.
Moments In Time will be released on Friday 29th September 2023.
