The Zurich Portrait Prize is the annual competition showcasing contemporary portraiture by artists from across the island of Ireland, and Irish artists living abroad.
The shortlisted works for the 2022 edition are currently on display at the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny until September 2023, in tandem with the shortlisted works for the Zurich Young Portrait Prize - enjoy a gallery of images above.
Salvatore, a painting by Dublin artist David Booth a portrait in oil on board of artist Salvatore of Lucan (himself a previous winner of the prize) was named as the winner of the Zurich Portrait Prize for 2022.

The aim of the Zurich Portrait Prize competition is to showcase and encourage interest in contemporary portraiture, and to raise the profile of the long-standing and constantly evolving National Portrait Collection at the National Gallery of Ireland.

As the overall winner, Booth received a cash prize of €15,000 and has been commissioned to create a work for the national portrait collection, for which he will be awarded a further €5,000. Two additional awards of €1,500 were given to highly commended works.
