Mary Lavin: her grand-daughters, both novelists, on her legacy

Mary Lavin was one of our great short story writers and a pioneer in creating vibrant and true female characters.

As Blood in the Alley's dramatisation of one of her best-known stories, In the Middle of the Fields, tours Ireland, two of Mary Lavin’s grand-daughters talk about her work to RTÉ Arena.

Both Kathleen McMahon and Alice Ryan are acclaimed writers in their own right. Kathleen is the author of four novels, the most recent being The Home Scar, and Alice’s debut novel is There's Been a Little Incident.

Listen above, and listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
