Do The Hucklebuck! RTÉ Arena on a theatrical return to the dance

A new immersive theatre show called Hucklebuck is to be the highlight of this year's Clonmel Junction Festival - RTÉ Arena takes a deeper dive above.

It is the story of a couple, Eanna and Meadhbh, who meet at a dancehall where the showbands played rock and roll, preaching kiss me quick and pelvic thrusts while their homes and churches were steeped in the sexual oppression of the time.

The play was devised from interviews, conversations and testimonies of the people who attended these dances in the past by writer Jack Reardon.

Hucklebuck is at the Clonmel Junction Festival from June 30th - July 9th - find out more here, and listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
