Sunlight: Claire Dix talks to RTÉ Arena about her feature film debut

It's 21st June, the longest day of the year. And it’s Dublin. Soon everyone in the flats will be gathering for a solstice bonfire. Iver wants to die – he is terminally ill, and he has hired a doctor, Maria, to come and help. His friend Leon has other ideas. He is determined to give Iver one last great day out.

So begins Sunlight, the debut feature film from Claire Dix, a director you may know for her documentaries and short films up to now. Iver is played by Liam Carney, Leon by Barry Ward and Maria by Maureen Beattie.

NB: This film explores issues relating to dying and euthanasia, and the interview above addresses these subjects.
