With festival season upon us, RTE Radio’s 1’s arts showcase Arena is planning a suite of programmes for Galway International Arts Festival, which runs from July 17th to the 30th.
Arena will broadcast two special shows from Galway on the first week of the festival; on Thursday, July 27th, listeners are invited to a special audience with Druid Theatre at the Town Hall Theatre to celebrate their new production of DruidO’Casey.
For DruidO'Casey, the three plays of Sean O'Casey's Dublin Trilogy will be performed during the festival before going on a national and international tour. In this epic theatrical event, Druid's Garry Hynes directs The Plough and the Stars, The Shadow of a Gunman and Juno and the Paycock.
At the Town Hall Theatre, Sean Rocks from Arena will be joined by the creative team behind DruidO’Casey, including director Garry Hynes and the cast of the three plays, including Catherine Walsh, Marty Rea, Rory Nolan, Hilda Fay and Zara Devlin.
Sean will chat to the cast, director and creative team about the process of bringing DruidO’Casey to the stage, the importance of the work and the plays’ contemporary resonances.
This is an opportunity to whet your appetite to see the trilogy of plays, or to explore the themes and theatricality of much-loved works of art.
Arena's DruidO’Casey special is at the Town Hall Theatre Galway on Thursday, July 27th from 3pm - find out more and book your tickets here.
