Christy Dignam - Arena salute an Irish music legend

Tom Dunne, Jerry Fish and Pat Carty join Sean Rocks on Arena to pay tribute to the Aslan frontman Christy Dignam, as news of his passing was announced yesterday - listen above.

Growing up in Finglas, north Dublin, Christy formed Aslan in 1982, alongside Alan Downey, Joe Jewell and Billy McGuinness. Their first album, Feel No Shame came in 1988, and was one of the defining Irish albums of that period in music.

10 years ago, in 2013, Christy was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer, and had been fighting the disease with extensive treatments over the last decade. In a statement, Christie's daughter, Kiera Dignam said: "On behalf of my family, it is with a broken heart that we convey the news of my father’s passing'.
