Oscar winner Charlie Kaufman to attend Bloomsday Film Festival

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Charlie Kaufman is coming to Dublin this month, to screen his latest film at this year's Bloomsday Film Festival - he talks to Ray D'Arcy below.

The acclaimed screenwriter of Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich and Adaptation will present his new short film Jackals & Fireflies, and participate in a post-screening Q&A with author Sinead Gleeson.

Kaufman will also attend a screening of his acclaimed Netflix production I'm Thinking Of Ending Things, starring Kerry-born actress Jessie Buckley.

Run in partnership with the Bloomsday Festival and the James Joyce Centre, The Bloomsday Film Festival blends film and literature in celebration of James Joyce's relationship with cinema and the city of Dublin.

Other events include a celebration of the life and literary legacy of the poet Niall McDevitt, a celebration of W.B Yeats' birthday, an archive screening of of Sé Merry Doyle's documentary Alive Alive O: A Requiem For Dublin and Translating Ulysses, a new film exploring a literary mission considered to be impossible - translating James Joyce's literary masterpiece into Kurdish.

The BFF programme also includes several short film programmes and a free presentation of Joycean films to celebrate Bloomsday on June 16th.
