There is walking and then there is walking beside the flowing water of a river.

I find myself, like the poet and short-story writer, Raymond Carver, drawn to rivers. "It pleases me," he wrote, "loving rivers. / Loving them all the way back to their source. / Loving everything that increases me."

What is it about flowing water that fascinates us? I'm not sure, but I am sure that I am fortunate in living close to the River Dodder...
