In the modern cinematic universe, filmmakers with a truly original vision are unique - and German director Werner Herzog is one such unique visionary.
A prolific talent with an immense body of work, a new selection of ten films available to watch on demand from IFI@Home focuses on films Herzog made in the 1970s and 1980s.
The selection includes his legendary five-film collaboration with actor Klaus Kinski, on Aguirre, Wrath of God (1972), Stroszeck (1977), Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979), Woyzeck (1979), Fitzcarraldo (1982) and Cobra Verde (1987), as well as other seminal Herzog works like Fata Morgana (1971) Land of Silence and Darkness (1971), The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (1974), Heart of Glass (1976) and Stroszek (1977).

Today, aged 80, Herzog remains a prolific presence, from his acting role in Disney+ live action Star Wars television series The Mandalorian, to publishing his debut novel, The Twilight World, in 2022.
