The Works Presents: artist Ailbhe Ní Bhriain talks to John Kelly

John Kelly returns to RTÉ One this May with The Works Presents, where a quintet of our most inspired and inspirational creative people talk with John on how encounters with art transformed their lives – and in turn became their lives.

In the latest episode of the new series, John meets the artist Ailbhe Ní Bhriain.

From County Clare, Ní Bhriain is an artist working with film, computer-generated imagery, collage, tapestry, print and installation, and she regularly collaborates with musicians and composers.

Always wary of the binary and the direct, she explores, instead, the ambiguities and contradictions to be found in some very complicated territory - notably colonialism, human displacement and climate change.

Ailbhe studied at the Royal College of Art, at Kingston University in London and before that, at the Crawford College of Art & Design in Cork.

The Works Presents, RTÉ One, Thursdays at 11.15 pm - catch up here, via RTÉ Player.
