MOVIES: CLOSE

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and nominated for the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, Belgian filmmaker Lukas Dhont's second film is a portrait of the intersection of friendship and love, identity and independence, and heartbreak and healing. Leo and Remi are two thirteen-year-old best friends, whose seemingly unbreakable bond is suddenly, tragically torn apart... Bring your handkerchiefs. (Selected cinemas nationwide from March 3rd)

OPERA: DER ROSENKAVALIER

Love and lust. Culture and crudity. Disguise and deceit. Masters and servants. Opulence to die for. INO's production of Der Rosenkavalier promises a ravishing recreation of Richard Strauss's nostalgic immersion in 18th-century Vienna, with the greatest-ever trio for female voices - the killer cast includes Paula Murrihy, Celine Byrne and Claudia Boyle. Enjoy an interview with set and costume designer Gary McCann below (Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for four performanes only, on 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th March)
