For an actor, sex scenes always pose a series of challenges, but when the aforementioned scene in question involves engaging in passionate acts outdoors (down a laneway, behind some bins) with your real-life other half, who happens to be playing your mistress... Let's just say that veteran thespian Ciaran Hinds faced some unusual challenges when it came to shooting RTÉ comedy-drama The Dry, which debuts on RTÉ One this Wednesday, March 1st (with the whole series available to binge on RTÉ Player).
Ciaran discussed The Dry (which also features his wife, actress Hélène Patarot) in a wide-ranging - and highly entertaining - chat with Brendan O'Connor on RTÉ Radio 1.
The Belfast native has been enjoying a formidable streak of meaty roles in recent years, both on the big-screen (his Oscar-nominated role in Kenneth Branagh's Belfast, and The Wonder) and small (Kin and The English), finding himself more in demand than ever aged 70. As for retirement... don't hold your breath.
