A new two-part RTÉ One documentary sets out to explore the life of this remarkable and complicated woman, as British actress (and national treasure) Miriam Margolyes joins forces with Irish writer and activist Senator Lynn Ruane for a road trip around the fascinating world of Lady Gregory - watch now, via RTÉ Player.
Shot during the summer of 2022, these curious and entertaining companions become more than just TV hosts as they visit the many places that Lady Gregory made her own and in the process uncover the many stories that made her who she was, travelling from London to Tallaght and Gort out to Inis Óirr.
From her childhood through to her own writings we learn, via our two "culture detectives", just how huge an impact Lady Gregory had on the Arts, from her own creativity, her championing of others and of course her co-founding of The Abbey Theatre.
