The Poetry Programme on Sunday 13th November at 7pm on RTÉ Radio 1 marks the start of Science Week, when presenter Olivia O'Leary is joined in studio by three guests who have all written poems inspired by science.
Iggy McGovern was Professor of Physics in Trinity College Dublin until his retirement in 2013. He has published three collections of poetry and a biography in verse of the Irish mathematician William Rowan Hamilton (published by Dedalus Press).
Rosamund Taylor is a poet and critic who in 2022 published a much-praised first collection, In Her Jaws (Banshee Poetry). She has been inspired to look at historical figures who have challenged expectations, particularly women in science.
Chandrika Narayanan-Mohan is an arts manager, writer and performer from India whose poems have been included in many anthologies. She has been one of Poetry Ireland's Introduction poets and a Science Gallery Ireland Rapid Residency Artist. She has written a number of poems about scientific discoveries.
