The Drama On One production #Maura Laverty This Was your Life has won this year's Zebbie Award for Best Radio Drama script - listen to it above.
Hosted at the Sugar Club in Dublin by The Writers Guild of Ireland, The Zebbies annually honour writers of exceptional work in theatre, television drama, continuing drama, short film, feature film, radio and animation.
Written by Bairbre Ní Chaoimh & Yvonne Quinn, the play tells the story of trailblazing, Irishwoman Maura Laverty. A household name in Ireland from the 1930s through to the 1960s, her work was often controversial, and her novels were banned for their sexual frankness. She hosted her own RTÉ radio show for over 30 years, wrote Ireland's first TV soap opera, Tolka Row – and her iconic cookery books were to be found in nearly every home in the country.

Co-author Bairbre Ní Chaoimh features as Maura Laverty, with Jonathan Ryan as The Compere, Rip Reilly and Joan Sheehy as Maura's mother.
Commissioned by RTÉ Drama on One, the production was directed by Gorretti Slavin.
The Writers Guild of Ireland represents over 600 Irish writers for film, television, theatre, radio, animation and games - find out more about this year's Zebbie winners here, and listen to more from Drama On One here.
