During September, the Irish Traditional Music Archive presents a national tour featuring artists from its popular archival series Drawing from the Well, kicking off with a formidable bill of traditional music, song and dance in the National Concert Hall, Dublin on Sunday September 11, 2022.
The Drawing From the Well tour celebrates the power of archives to inspire new art among Ireland's leading contemporary traditional artists, following the success of ITMA's popular video series of the same name - watch highlights from Drawing From the Well here.
The National Concert Hall event features virtuoso instrumentalists Laoise Kelly (harp), Conor Connolly (accordion), Cormac Begley (concertina), Jesse Smith (fiddle), Aoife Ní Bhriain (fiddle), Deirdre Hurley (flute), Mairéad Hurley (concertina), Aoife Granville (flute) and Steve Cooney (guitar), performing alongside renowned singers Brían Mac Gloinn, Daoirí Farrell and Radie Peat, and distinguished dancers Edwina Guckian and Caitlín Nic Gabhann (concertina).
The programme on the night will be interspersed with the spoken word by poets Vincent Woods and Moya Cannon, who will present the performances.

Speaking about the forthcoming event, ITMA Director Liam O’Connor said: "I am delighted that for the second time in 2022, in association with NCH, we will get to showcase our wonderful traditional artists on the country’s premier stage. ITMA’s artistic programming is aimed at connecting artists with archival material to inspire new work. This concert features 14 of the country’s top musicians, singers and dancers who have been nourished and inspired by the ITMA collections through the Drawing from the Well Programme. A unique feature of this night will be the addition of the spoken word and poetry by Vincent Woods and Moya Cannon."
