The only truly appropriate way to celebrate the life and work of a true giant of Irish traditional music, guitarist Dennis Cahill, is by revisiting the music that made him a legend.
Cahill who has sadly passed away aged 68, will be remembered as a true innovator, collaborating with Martin Hayes for over three decades on a series of classic albums and live performances to packed houses across the globe - here they are in session for NPR on a US tour back in 2013:

More than a decade earlier and closer to home, Cahill and Hayes are joined by Altan's Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Dermot Byrne in Dolan's pub, Limerick back in 1999, for a mighty seisiún that includes A Tune for Frankie, composed by Ní Mhaonaigh for her late husband, Frankie Kennedy.

Cahill and Hayes joined forces with Iarla Ó Lionáird, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh & Thomas Bartlett for trad supergroup The Gloaming, with their live shows quickly becoming the stuff of legend - enjoy their opening set from a Royal Albert Hall appearance in 2014 at Ceiliúradh (Celebration), an event to mark the historic occasion of the first state visit to the United Kingdom by the President of Ireland.
