The novelist Claire Keegan has won this year's Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award for her book Small Things Like These.
The award, which is worth E20,000 was presented last night at the opening night of Listowel Writers Week in Co Kerry.
Small Things Like These is Claire Keegan's second novel, and her first in over a decade. Her debut, Foster, has been adapted into the award-winning film An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl), currently on release in Irish cinemas.
The Pigott Poetry Prize, worth E12,000 was awarded to Martina Evena for her anthology American Mules.
Meanwhile The John B. Keane Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to poet Gabriel Fitzmaurice.
This is the 52nd year of the festival which was opened in the North Kerry town last night by actor Dominic West.
Guests at this year's event include John Boyne, Sarah Winman, Donal Ryan and Louise Kennedy.
