Performer, activist, podcaster, publican and National Treasure Panti Bliss is one of the artists featured in Voices of Ireland, a new two-part literary documentary series Sky Arts and NOW exploring the works of some of Ireland's best-known writers, poets and playwrights.

We asked Panti for her choice cultural picks...

FILM

With the ongoing Covopalypse going on I've only been to the cinema three times this year (The Green Knight, fun and lovely to look at / Respect, the Aretha Franklin biopic: disappointing / Dune, gorgeous but unfulfilling) but I’ve been spending a lot of time in front of the streaming services. I just watched Ammonite, a movie about two women in uncomfortable clothing giving each other significant looks in bad weather, liberally sprinkled with cunnilingus. So I loved it.

MUSIC

I’m all about Little Nas X at the moment and only Little Nas X. OK that’s not exactly true. Little Nas X and Ye Vagabonds.

BOOK

I’m not generally a huge poetry gal, but I’ve really enjoyed Imelda May’s A Lick And A Promise, which weaves seamlessly from thoughtful to moving to laugh out loud funny.

PLAY

I thoroughly enjoyed Phillip McMahon’s Once Before I Go at the Gate which brought a deft lightness of touch to difficult subject matter, and Mark O’Halloran’s Conversations After Sex at The Project was wonderful. Kate Stanley Brennan is a goddess and a powerhouse!

ART

The photography exhibition Living, a series of portraits by Hazel Coonagh of people living and thriving with HIV currently running at the Epic Museum at CHQ in Dublin is wonderful.
