One of Kilkenny's most beautiful venues, St. Canice’s Cathedral, will host December Sounds next month, with a stellar line-up of Irish musicians taking to the stage from 20th to 22nd December.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to local charities and organisations, including the Ciara Lawlor memorial fund, Cois Nore cancer research, the Chernobyl Kilkenny Outreach Group, the Aislinn Centre, Amber Women’s Refuge and the O’ Neill Centre.

To maximise social distancing, 50% venue capacity will be in place for all concerts.
Monday, 20th December sees Hothouse Flowers frontman Liam Ó Maonlaí joined by John Francis Flynn (who recently scooped awards for Best Emerging Artist and Best Folk Singer at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards), West Kerry concertina player Cormac Begley and Kilkenny’s singer-songwriter Bríd Lyons.
Fresh from a sold-out Olympia Theatre show, Bird On The Wire perform The Songs Of Leonard Cohen on Tuesday, 21st December. Fronted by Pauline Scanlon and The Whileaways, the 11-piece ensemble perform many of Cohen’s best-loved classics and some lesser-known gems.
Presented by Rollercoaster Records on Wednesday, 22nd December, Lurgan cult hero Malojian performs alongside folk duo Lemoncello and Kilkenny-born alt-folk singer-songwriter Elise, fresh from her recent release Ragdoll.
Irish alt-folk and electronica alchemist, Seamus Fogarty plays the closing night of ‘December Sounds, with a special guest to be announced. Originally from Mayo, Fogarty released his acclaimed third album A Bag Of Eyes in 2020.
