Listen: An Evening with John Prine - the RTÉ Radio 1 special recorded at the US Ambassador's residence in 2015, hosted by John Creedon

Below, John's wife Fiona (originally from Ardara, Co. Donegal) introduces the event:

"I can't think of a more appropriate or meaningful way to celebrate the life and songs of my beloved John, He was as much in love with Ireland and Galway as he was with me!

The musicians gathered for our livestream event on Monday night are all dear friends and many of them sang, duetted or played with John over the years.

I'm so grateful that our son Tommy will join us. He is a singer-songwriter in his own right and people are in for a lovely surprise when they see and hear him sing his Dad’s songs.

I hope people in Ireland and beyond will join us for this very special evening from Galway."

Souvenirs - Celebrating the Life and Songs of John Prine with Family and Friends will be live streamed from The Mick Lally Theatre on October 4th from 7.30pm and available to view on demand from 7th to 10th October. It will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio One at a future date. Find out more here.
