The Dublin Theatre Festival has launched its programme for 2021 with around 30 performances with audiences in venues around the capital.

The festival will celebrate Irish artists along with welcoming a number of international theatre companies from the UK, France, Portugal, Switzerland and Argentina.

It will retain a digital element streaming a number of performances over the two-week festival, running from the 30th September to the 17th October.

The programme also includes 21 world premieres.

Amongst the new works is the final instalment in the opera trilogy by Donnacha Dennehy and Enda Walsh, The First Child, Marina Carr's iGIRL and Once Before I Go by Philip McMahon.

Climate Change and ecology also feature in two new Irish works: Root from Shanna May Breen and Luke Casserly and visual installation and audio performance on the Liffey Quays from Brokentalkers.
