The Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin will return to action this August with a special concert presentation of legendary musical West Side Story, for two performances only, on Sunday 1st August 2021.
This will be the first in-house production and the first performance in front of a live audience in 18 months at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, which has remained shuttered through the Covid 19 crisis.
Leading the cast of 20 home-grown performers will be Gavin Ryan and Leah Barniville, who will play star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria. The supporting cast includes Brian Gilligan, Claire Ivory, Johnny Ward and Nassim Missaoui.

Featuring music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, West Side Story remains one of the most beloved musicals of all time - the screen adaptation, celebrating its 50th anniversary, won a whopping 10 Oscars in 1961. Stephen Spielberg has directed a new version, due in cinemas this Christmas.
The performance is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media as part of the pilot Live Performance Support Scheme, designed to get industry professionals back to work.
The Bord Gais Energy Theatre will host a number of events in coming months, including the eagerly anticipated Irish premiere of Tony Award-winning sensation Book Of Mormon.
