Jule Marie Loescher from Maynooth University Drama Society introduces their imaginative new podcast drama Between the Lines - listen to all the episodes to date below...
Between the Lines is a fictional story where the listener has discovered a book shop outside their local area that had been suggested to them to visit. The owner of this store graciously provides you with short stories to read whenever you're in his shop. And while all that seems normal, there is something about these stories that causes you to be somewhat skeptical. They all seem to have lessons behind them, but what exactly is the bookshop owner trying to teach you?
I guess you'll just need to start reading between the lines...

Niall Finnegan is the head writer and creator of this podcast and it is being produced by Maynooth University Drama Society. Every year when college starts, the MU Drama committee look for different projects they can work on throughout the two semesters. This year they needed projects that were Covid appropriate, i.e. they could be done remotely.

Niall had had an idea for a play for some time and during September 2020 while listening to some podcasts, he thought: "wouldn’t it be cool to make a podcast out of this story idea?". Being on the committee as Health and Safety officer at the time, he proposed this idea to the rest of the committee. Everyone was very excited about the idea from the start, as it was an challenging new project that had not been done before in this society.
So, Niall assembled a team of six writers from within the society and together they spent the first semester writing and planning the six episodes of the podcast.

The first episode aired on Monday the 19th of April on Spotify, and the final episode of season 1 will air on the 24th of May.

Keeping things moving within the project was difficult at times, over the span of two semesters. Most of the difficulties arose from mobilizing and coordinating a team of this size remotely, but we are proud to have overcome these challenges.
Every single person involved in this project kept their faith and continued to passionately contribute. We all believed that things would work out and if they didn't, at least we were ambitious in trying to do something never done before in MU Drama.
