The RTÉ news2day team have been inspired by poet Amanda Gorman's verse at Joe Biden's inauguration and they have challenged the children of Ireland to write some poetry about what matters to them.
The news2day team wants to encourage children to express how they feel about the issues that matter through poetry.
It's not a competition, but an opportunity to have their words read out on news2day on RTÉ2 every weekday at 4.20 pm.

RTÉ's news programme designed specifically for children
For the next few weeks, poets and writing experts will give tips and help to aspiring writers on the show. Children around the country are being asked to put pen to paper and channel the poet inside of them.
Kids are encouraged to write a poem under 200 words with the title What Matters to Me and send them to news2day@rte.ie.
For further inspiration, news2day have a series of 'Pandemic Postcards' from children living around the world.
