Ireland's artists address the nations with Centre Culturel Irlandais

To coincide with the launch of its new five-year strategic plan, the Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris has commissioned 40 artists to address the nations, with four evenings of speeches from contemporary voices from the Irish arts sector. Watch the first installment above.

Artists taking part in the global online project include actors Siobhan McSweeney and John Connors, writer Jan Carson, performance artist Amanda Coogan, choreographers Dylan Quinn and Fearghus O'Conchuir, as well as conductor Eimear Noone.

Addressing the Nations will be launched tonight at 7pm Irish time offering Irish artists across the world the opportunity to address the burning issues of our time including Covid-19, Brexit, populism, mental health and inequality. 

The programme will run for 30 minutes with 10 artists speaking for 3 mins each, and can be viewed via the Centre Culturel Irlandais website.

The series launches on Wednesday, 20th January at 7 pm (Irish time) with contributions from dancer/choreographer Dylan Quinn, composer/performer Jennifer Walshe, poet Annemarie Ni Chuirreain, artist Rita Duffy, filmmaker Paul Rowley, performance poet Alice McCullough, theatre, film and music maker Zoe Ní Riordáin, actor, writer and director John Connors, writer and performer Chiamaka Enyi-Amadi and theatremaker Janet Moran. Find out more about the project here.
