FILM 

Arriving this week on Netflix is director Ron Howard's Hillbilly Elegy, following the story of a former Marine and current Yale Law student (played by Gabriel Basso) as he is forced to return home due to a family crisis and has to confront the complex relationship he has with his mother (played by Amy Adams) and the memories he has with his grandmother (Glenn Close). The release of the film, which is based on the best-selling memoir by J.D Vance, has been highly anticipated over the last year, and has already been described by several critics as being choice 'Oscar-bait'. It's clear that those involved are looking to scoop up a few accolades this awards season...

Plastic Hearts is the seventh studio album to be released by former teen Disney star, Miley Cyrus, who's enjoyed renewed success in recent months, partially due to her popularity on TikTok, the video-sharing social media platform of the moment. The album contains the earworm Midnight Sky as well as Prisoner, a collaboration with pop sensation Dua Lipa.

Accidentally Wes Anderson is a stunning book filled with interesting and idiosyncratic images that perfectly (albeit accidentally) encapsulate the aesthetic of filmmaker Wes Anderson's films. ART 

From November 19th to December 3rd, The Douglas Hyde gallery are screening A Reflection on Light, an essay film by former artist in residence at Trinity College Dublin, Grace Weir. The film is an exploration of time mediated through a Cubist painting by Mainie Jellett and the multiple crossover relationships between memory and record, and history and the present. The film travels across three different locations: the interior of Jellett's apartment, a gallery space at the IMMA and the department of physics at Trinity College, where Jellett's painting Let there be Light hangs.
