Pantomimes, live music venues and arts centres around the country are among the recipients of government funding aimed to help them plan live performances over the coming months.
In total, 58 organisations will benefit from this pilot project from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, which is worth €5 million.
The main objective of the pilot scheme is to provide employment opportunities to artists and allow producers of live performances prepare productions, either for a live audience or to stream.
The demand for this pilot scheme led to the decision to provide a larger package worth €50 million in the recent budget, which will support the sector next year.
Minister Catherine Martin said the scheme aims to de-risk the costs of running productions that might be postponed, cancelled or curtailed due to public health restrictions.
"The live events sector was one of the first to close and I want to ensure that it will be supported and there once again for musicians, artists and performers." she said.
