Irish Makers is a new series showcasing some of the most talented makers and creators that the country has to offer.
It's now more important than ever for us to support small independent businesses, whether that be by sharing their creations across social media, buying from them or recommending to a friend...
Today's featured artist is Barbara Burke, the creator of BBpapercuts, offering unique custom-designed maps of towns, cities and villages.

BBpapercuts was born out of Barbara's fascination for maps, seeing the way that a city developed over time next to a river, a port or a crossroads, watching them expand over the years and finding the origins of the city.
She graduated as an interior design architect and ran her own business for over 20 years, elements of which involved model making with card and paper.

After a period of time living in the Middle East, Barbara was inspired by the local artists who made beautiful bespoke pieces cut out of paper. Since then she has been creating BBpapercuts from her home studio in Dublin.
Her work includes cut-out maps of Ireland, Irish counties, towns and villages along with custom locations around the world, making a BBpapercuts map the perfect gift to remind a loved one of a special place this Christmas.
