This Beautiful Virtual Village - Irish theatre goes Zoom

This Beautiful Village is an award-winning comedy by Lisa Tierney-Keogh that premiered last year at the Abbey Theatre.

Set in a Dublin suburb, six members of a residents' association get together to discuss some sexist graffiti that’s shown up on a wall in their neighbourhood - but they can’t agree on how to deal with it.

Last night, This Beautiful Virtual Village opened at the Abbey, starring, among others, Pom Boyd and Amy Conroy. In a new online version re-purposed for these pandemic times, the residents meeting now takes place on a Zoom call.

Playwright Lisa Tierney-Keogh and director David Horan talked to RTÉ Arena about the production - listen above.

This Beautiful Virtual Village is available online until 17th September - find out more here. Tune into to RTÉ Arena live nightly from Mon-Fri on RTÉ Radio 1 from 7pm - or listen back here.
