The Irish Chamber Orchestra will perform its first live concerts in six months at the Kilkenny Arts Festival X on Sunday, August 16th.
An alternative festival, this year's event features concerts, exhibitions, talks, theatre, film, opera, and dance – presented in different guises.
As orchestra-in residence, the ICO will present performances directed by Katherine Hunka in the fabulous surrounds of St. Canice’s Cathedral at 6.30pm and 8.00pm.
The first concert features Astor Piazzolla’s 'tangoed’ Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, a vibrant work depicting the seasonal moods of the city through jazzy rhythms and romantic violin solos. The second performance will feature Vivaldi’s much loved Four Seasons.
The performances take place at St. Canice’s Cathedral. Limited tickets are available so early booking is advisable on www.kilkennyarts.ie
ICO players will also feature in Encounters, which will see small numbers of players perform in 'pop-up' locations around the city, offering intimate concerts for individuals, pairs, and small family units.
