The Works Presents returns to RTÉ One on Thursday, April 23rd with a new five-part series in which John Kelly meets key Irish figures from the arts.
In conversations with John, these key creative forces share their own unique insights into how and why they work in their chosen fields. John explores what inspires them and how it drives them.
The series kicks off on April 23rd with John in conversation with Grian Chatten - hailing from Skerries in north Dublin, Grian Chatten is the lead singer of one of the most exciting Irish bands on the music scene at the minute, Fontaines D.C. The band draws on numerous and diverse Irish influences including the works of James Joyce, Patrick Kavanagh, The Dubliners and the Pogues.

Fontaines D.C.'s first album Dogrel received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for the 2019 Mercury Prize. In an illuminating interview, Grian talks to The Works Presents about his love of poetry, pursuing a career in the music business and protecting his creativity.

The series continues with actor and screenwriter Mark O’Halloran (April 30th), crime fiction writer Liz Nugent (May 14th) fiddle player Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (May 21st) and visual artist Donald Teskey (May 28th) - all shows will be available to watch post-broadcast on RTÉ Player.
