The Dublin Gay Theatre festival has said its event is in jeopardy because Dublin City Council is reviewing its funding policy due to Covid-19.
The Festival is due to take place in May and, as it's held in venues of less than 100 people organisers are hopeful it may be able to go ahead.
However the festival, which is part-funded by Dublin City Council has received an email saying that all funding for events has been temporarily suspended due to the Covid 19 situation. The DGTF says it needs funding now for advertising and other bills that are paid in advance.
Dublin City Council told RTÉ News that they are happy for the festival to engage with them to discuss requirements such as advertising. It also said that, as the situation regarding events is an evolving one, it’s not possible to say when a final decision regarding funding can be made.
The DGTF has said any suspension of funding would be a crippling blow.
Earlier this week, the Arts Council said it will honour its funding commitments and that organisations will be able to draw down funding with immediate effect.
