Hi, Rick O'Shea here, the radio presenter with Ireland’s biggest book club, and the new presenter of RTE Radio 1’s Book Show.
I want to tell you about this year’s Christmas Appeal by the Rick O’Shea Book Club.
This is a project I am incredibly proud of, which started as a small gesture and has now grown into something of a juggernaut.
Last year The Rick O’Shea Book Club Christmas Appeal raised over €51,000 in aid of the Peter McVerry Trust's work helping those who need the most help in the middle of Ireland's homelessness crisis.
Sadly Ireland's homelessness crisis hasn't improved in the intervening 12 months. This year I want us to raise even more so here's what you can do:
Donate the price of an average second-hand book - €5.
If you can donate more please, please do (last year we had people donating 10, 20, 100, 500 and even one extraordinary donation of €5,000!)
I *completely* forgot to mention this on @RTEToday today but we're at a little over 12 grand for our @ROSBookClub Xmas Appeal for the @PMVTrust.— Rick O'Shea (@rickoshea) December 2, 2019

Please try to do a social media post as you donate as this keeps the post in people's feeds.
In fact, this year we even have an avatar!
I also ask that you spread the message far and wide as often as you can over the next few weeks.

We start now and the appeal closes on New Year's Eve.

If you have gotten any joy or in any way loved the Book Club in the last year, please show your appreciation for the wonderful book-loving community we have created and help ease Ireland's homelessness crisis at the same time."
Rick O’Shea starts as the new presenter of the RTE Radio 1 Book Show on December 8th on RTÉ Radio One. The Rick O’Shea Book Club currently has 28,000 members - donate to the Book Club Christmas Appeal here,
