This January, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra proudly presents Music In the Classroom, its hugely popular series of tailor-made concerts for primary and second level music students, live at the National Concert Hall.

And, for the first time, RTÉ will be live-streaming one concert in each of the series (music for primary schools, music for Junior Cert & music for Leaving Cert) via RTÉ Culture - see dates and times below.

MUSIC IN THE CLASSROOM: MUSICAL ADVENTURES

Musical Adventures, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s fun concerts for children aged 8-12, opened the 2019 National Symphony Orchestra’s series of concerts for schools. Children were invited to take the adventure of a lifetime as, through the eyes of fantastic creatures, the orchestra explored the worlds of mystery and magic, of imagination and legend in music of drama and romance, energy and excitement, poetry and power drawn from the opera house, concert hall and cinema screen. The event included excerpts from The Magic Flute, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Firebird, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Jurassic Park. Watch the concert below...

MUSIC IN THE CLASSROOM: LEAVING CERTIFICATE MUSIC GUIDE

For Leaving Certificate students, Tom Redmond presents a step by step guide to Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, highlighting key themes and sections, with excerpts, and concluding with a full performance by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.

For Junior Certificate students, Tom will present, in a fun and engaging way, a selection of set and selected choice works including works by Mozart, Greig, Vivaldi, Copland, John Williams and Britten.
