Father Ted co-creator Arthur Mathews and journalist Declan Lynch discovered a "lost tribe" several years ago. And they fear things might be getting worse for them. The pair joined Ray D’Arcy to tell him about their new book, Notes From A Lost Tribe: The Poor Ould Fellas.

The book features the rarest of breeds, the older gentleman who just wants to watch his daytime horse-racing in peace without being bothered by fancy cooking shows. The man who is "bamboozled" by Bluetooth who "everyone feels completely free to ignore".

It was a collaborative effort between Declan and Arthur, with Declan writing and Arthur bringing the characters to life with illustrations. Ray was curious what the 'ould fellas’ would make of the modern political landscape they find themselves in. Declan and Arthur have an idea what they might be looking for.

"The politicians that they related to would have been someone like Liam Cosgrave - men with no hinterland, no emotion."
