This September 21st, Culture Night is calling on people across Ireland to get out and enjoy some of the 4,000+ cultural happenings in all four corners of the country - and it's all free!
The programme the thirteenth Culture Night, was revealed today and is now available here.
From Donegal to Wexford, Kerry to Louth, the country will vibrate to the rhythm of dancers, musicians, poets, actors, artists, storytellers and more. This year, Culture Night organisers are hoping to build on last year’s turnout of over 400,000 people nationwide coming out to experience the best of Irish contemporary culture.

Once again RTÉ is partnering with Culture Night to deliver an event to remember.
Between the commanding granite walls of the historic Collins Barracks, a gigantic, free open-air concert will bring the very best of Ireland’s emerging and established artists into the spotlight, alongside the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. From 8pm to 10pm, RTÉ's Culture Night concert will be presented by Sean Rocks, broadcast live on RTÉ Radio 1’s Arena and for the very first time streamed live on the RTÉ website. Visitors to Collins Barracks can also have the chance to be part of the studio audience for live recordings of a plethora of arts and culture programmes for RTÉ Radio 1 at the Palatine Room, including Sunday Miscellany, Culture Cabinet and some brand new pilot radio programmes.

Culture Night features a kaleidoscopic nationwide programme showcasing Ireland's creativity, storytelling and unique culture. Highlights in the capital this year include everything from the Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again exhibition at the Bank of Ireland Cultural & Heritage Centre and an evening of storytelling and conversation in the beautifully restored 14 Henrietta Street to family-friendly workshops and activities from Oscar-nominated animation studio Brown Bag and a spectacular circus arts performance by Taking Flight.

Across the country, thousands of events will include a performance by beloved folk musician Luka Bloom in Kilkee, Co. Clare; in Kerry The Welcoming Project presents Afro-Dabke-Céilí, a night of African dance, Palestinian Dabke and Irish Céilí with Dancer in Residence Catherine Young; Art Deco and Roaring 20’s Evening at Clones Library Co. Monaghan will travel back to the roaring 1920s with plenty of swing, jazz and daring outfits; in Cashel Library Co. Tipperary author Julian Gough will read from his new novel Connect, set in the near future and telling a story of family and digital life; in Sligo No Smoke Without Fire, a comic drama by Paddy Murray will be performed at the Hawk's Well Theatre starring acclaimed actress Mary Murray of Love/Hate; The Griese Youth Theatre in Kildare will present Forty-Five Minutes by Anya Reiss, a play about exam deadlines, hopes and fears; while The Concert Hall in Cork City will host Come Dancing, a magical event with RTÉ lyric fm's Evelyn Grant and the Cork Pops Orchestra, playing a range of music from Johann Strauss to ABBA.

The number of Irish language events on Culture Night continues to rise year on year with the total numbers of events this year expected to be over 130. Oireachtas na Gaeilge will be supporting over 60 Irish language events throughout the country, from Belfast city to Valentia Island in Kerry, and Dublin to Achill. Highlights include Currach Racing on the River Liffey and Cé Eile a Chónaíonn Anseo? with Stiúideo na Rátha in Kildare where artist Monica de Bath will invite children and adults to work with her on a large scale drawing of the creatures, both real and imaginary, that live by the local canal and river.
New this year will be the Culture Night Podcast, a series of special podcast episodes with contributions from familiar faces and emerging talents in Ireland’s cultural sphere, produced in association with the Headstuff Podcast Network.
