RTÉ's Autumn TV season features a whopping 60 new series, mixing comedy, drama, documentary and lifestyle programming, anchored by some formidable cultural offerings.

A centrepiece of the new season is the TV premiere of the acclaimed Citizen Lane, which combines drama and documentary to tell the story of the legendary Irish art collector, dealer and philanthropist, the founder of Dublin’s municipal art gallery. Directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan (December Bride) and starring the mighty Tom Vaughan-Lawlor alongside Sir Michael Gambon.

Elsewhere, A Riot Of Their Own is a revealling observational documentary following Scottish directors Neil Murray and Graham McLaren through an eventful first year at the helm of Ireland’s National Theatre.

In recent years, there has been an explosion of street art across Ireland. Not only has street art regenerated many urban areas, but it has also fused art with social commentary and grabbed national headlines. Now a new documentary, Street Art, follows the fortunes of some of Ireland’s most controversial and successful street artists to see how their work is fast redefining the role of the visual arts in modern-day Ireland.

Another eagerly-anticipated new documentary, Shooting the Darkness, examines how press photographers in Northern Ireland transitioned from breezy photocalls, cheque presentations and handshakes to recording bombings, shootings and terror, their images emblazoned on front pages of newspapers across the world. This documentary reveals the stories behind some of the photographs that defined The Troubles, and what these iconic images cost the men who captured them.

RTÉ will also be broadcasting the An Post Irish Book Awards, and premiering a number of new homegrown drama projects (Taken Down and Resistance) and comedies (Amy Huberman's Finding Joy, Sharon Horgan's Women On The Verge and the return of The Young Offenders) alongside acclaimed imports like Mr. Mercedes and Killing Eve.
