The rather splendid video for U2's new single doesn't feature any of the band members - instead, it offers a vivid celebration of Dublin's tribes in all their diverse glory.
The short film for Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way, directed by photographer David Mushegain and taken from the band's Songs of Experience album, is inspired by Mushegain's portraits of the capital's youth - a project he began earlier this decade.
"It was so awesome to be able to combine two subjects that are very close to my heart, Dublin youth culture and the LGBTQ scene," he wrote in an Instagram post announcing the release, his first ever music video. Mushegain, a seasoned fashion snapper and the tour photographer for The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, shot the film himself, sans crew, to capture an intimate atmosphere between camera and subject.
"I took [the lyrics] really literally," the photographer told Vogue. "'Love is bigger than anything in its way’ is such a strong message, especially when the world is in such turmoil. I think the message is be yourself, but also have some fun in life and expressing yourself."
U2's new video is kinda gorgeous and features a plethora of Dublin queer kids shot in various locations across the city, and Pantibar's basement makes an appearance (around the 1:43 mark) which they must’ve done guerrilla style ‘cause we don't remember it https://t.co/tWMBplPTGY

The band have also released a new version of Songs of Experience standout Lights Of Home, remixed by Beck - the remix, originally released on Record Store Day, samples Haim’s 2014 single My Song 5 and features Haim sisters Este, Danielle and Alana on backing vocals.
U2 kick off the North American leg of their Experience + Innocence Tour next week with a gig in Tulsa, Oklahoma - the European stretch later this year includes sold out Belfast and Dublin shows in October and November. Those with tickets might like to download their new App, specifically designed to enhance the live experience.
