Belfast-based artist Davidson is best known for his acclaimed paintings of celebrities, as well as his Silent Testimony Project which featured 18 individuals from North and South who were caught in The Troubles and was praised for its extraordinary empathy.
in 2015, Davidson's portrait of German Chancellor Angela Merkel featured on the cover of Time magazine. Well-known figures who have sat for him in recent years include Liam Neeson, Jamie Dornan, Tyson Furey and Glen Hansard, as well as the late Rev Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness. in 2017, Queen Elizabeth II unveiled a portrait of herself painted by Davidson and commissioned by Co-Operation Ireland to mark Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday year.
