The inaugural IrelandWeek event, taking place later this month in Los Angeles, brings the cream of Ireland's creative talent to the heart of the global entertainment industry for a celebration of Irish food, film, technology, art and music.
IrelandWeek, which kicks off on October 16th, promises a series of diverse cultural happenings across the city, anchored by Connect 353, a conference event exploring 'the myriad of cultural layers that make up Ireland, past, present and future'.
A formidable line-up of Irish talent will be making the trip; drag queen Panti Bliss will present her one-woman show, while Golden Globe-nominated composer Brian Byrne performs his James Joyce-themed project Goldenhair - elsewhere, celebrity chef Donal Skehan will contribute a special Irish-flavored menu in bars and restaurants throughout the Los Angeles area, and the music programme features appearances from Lisa Hannigan and The Strypes.
Rian Johnson, director of the latest Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, will share his experiences of shooting in Ireland, while Roscommon's favourite son (and current L.A. resident) Chris O'Dowd will participate in a special 'In Conversation' event, presented in association with industry bible The Hollywood Reporter.

There will also be a special screening of The Breadwinner, the latest animated feature from Oscar nominated Kilkenny-based company Cartoon Saloon (The Secret Of Kells), Executive Produced by Angelina Jolie, as well as a panel event focusing on Ireland's booming animation industry.
James Hickey, Chief Executive of the Irish Film Board said "We’re delighted to support IrelandWeek in its endeavor to showcase the wealth of creative talent coming out of Ireland across the film, television and animation industries. The Irish screen sectors are thriving, as recently indicated by the huge presence of Irish filmmakers at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. IrelandWeek promises to showcase the best work from our industry."

The organisers of IrelandWeek are aiming to capitalize on an enhanced connectivity between Los Angeles and Dublin, by creating a two-way 'international superhighway', promoting Ireland’s talents to an American audience while encouraging inward investment, tourism, jobs and cultural awareness - find out more here.
