Russian Superstar pianist Boris Berezovsky will perform Titan Of The Piano at The National Concert Hall on September 10th, as part of the Dublin International Piano Festival (DIPF) in aid of Childvision - and we have a pair of tickets to give away!
Berezovsky’s last performance in Dublin was in 2009, when the Irish Times hailed him as ‘one of the greatest pianists of our time’. His September show will incorporate the works of an eclectic group of composers, from Beethoven and Bartok to De Falla and Grieg. Berezovsky believes that "Beethoven creates music out of nothingness. I personally like his unbelievable nuclear energy. He is as powerful as the sun."
This eagerly-anticipated Dublin date is recheduled from July - Berezovsky became stranded in the South of France, following his concert at the world’s most prestigious Piano Festival, La Roque d’Antheron, and was unable to travel to Dublin in time for the recital, due to widely-reported forest fires in the region.
A recipient of the prestigious gold medal in the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition at just 21 years old, Berezovsky's prodigious career has since scaled to dizzying heights. As well as performing with celebrated orchestras like the Berlin, Los Angeles, New York and Moscow Philharmonic Orchestras, he has worked under conductors like Kurt Masur, Leonard Slatkin and Valery Gergiev. In 2006, he became the winner of the Record Of The Year Award from BBC Music Magazine, and many of his recordings have become classical bestsellers.
This special concert is in aid of ChildVision, Ireland’s National Centre for Blind and Multi-disabled children who, for over 150 years have been working with families from all over Ireland to provide therapeutic care and residential services for children with sight loss and other significant disabilities.
