David Byrne talks to Myles Dungan - from the RTÉ archives

RTÉ Drama On One is going to the archives and giving you the chance to hear some great chats from the Rattlebag programme.

David Byrne is simply one of the most original musicans working today.

As the lead singer and creative driver of Talking Heads, Byrne’s twitchy and alienated performing style, coupled with the band’s hybrid punk- rock, funk-pop cross-genre, avant-garde, world music (and whatever your having yourself) style made them – well – hard to pigeonhole.

Perceived as a geeky preppy New Yorker, David Byrne is a Scotsman! Born in Dumbarton, he moved to Maryland when he was 8 years old.

In 2004, Byrne released his third solo album, Grown Backwards, and Rattlebag's Myles Dungan travelled west to the Galway International Arts Festival for an illuminating audience with the man himself.
